HoneyWise is a household budgeting app. This page explains, in plain words, what it keeps about you, who helps run it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your information and we don't show ads or track you across other apps or websites.

What HoneyWise keeps

  • Your account: your email address, your name and photo from Google or Apple if you use them to sign in, and the phone number you add for text alerts.
  • Your budget: accounts, balances, transactions, bills, goals, debts, categories, notes, tags and the people you share a budget with. Some of it you type in; some comes from a bank you connect.
  • Wallet cards: if you add a card, its number and code are encrypted before they are stored, and only you (and people you share that card with) can reveal them.
  • Receipts: photos you attach, and, if you turn on Gmail receipts, small details from receipt emails (store, total, date, a short snippet). HoneyWise reads your Gmail read-only and does not keep the full emails.
  • Crash reports from the iPhone app (what went wrong and on which phone model), with no budget details or personal information.

Who helps run HoneyWise

We use these services to provide the app. Each only gets what it needs for its job:

  • Supabase stores your data and handles sign-in. Cloudflare serves the website.
  • Your bank connection: SimpleFIN or Plaid (only if you connect a bank) read your balances and transactions. HoneyWise never sees your bank password.
  • Google: sign-in, read-only Gmail receipts and Google Calendar (only if you connect them), and Maps for place lookups. You can disconnect Google in Settings at any time.
  • Anthropic (Claude) helps sort transactions, clean up merchant names, answer questions in the Coach, and read receipts or card photos you scan on the website. Only the information needed for the request is sent, under Anthropic's business terms, which don't allow using it to train their models.
  • Resend sends emails (like alerts), Twilio sends text alerts, and Sentry receives iPhone crash reports.

Text messages

If you add and verify a phone number, HoneyWise texts you only the alerts you turn on (like low balances and overdrafts). Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop all texts, or HELP for help. Your phone number and your agreement to receive texts are never sold or shared with anyone for marketing, and are used only to send your HoneyWise alerts.

How it's protected

  • Everything travels over encrypted connections. Every account must use two-step sign-in.
  • Database rules keep each household's data separate, and people with view-only access can't change anything.
  • Bank access keys and card details are stored encrypted and are never sent to your browser or phone.

Your choices

  • Disconnect a bank, Google, Gmail receipts or Calendar sync in Settings whenever you like.
  • Export your transactions from Settings → Export.
  • To delete your account, open Settings in the app (iPhone or web) and choose "Delete my HoneyWise account". It deletes your sign-in and your data right away and unlinks your banks and Google. In a shared budget only you leave: the budget and its shared data stay for the other members. If you can't sign in, email support@honeywise.app from the address you signed up with and we'll delete it for you.

Children

HoneyWise is for adults. The optional Kids section is a tool for a parent to track a child's savings; children don't have their own accounts.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app. Questions about your privacy? Email support@honeywise.app.
